Before joining Eze Fitness, I was the girl volunteering to take the picture, so I wouldn’t have to be in it. I purposely sat in the back of an event so people couldn’t see me from behind. I never had anything to wear that fit me, so I would fake being sick. I had one outfit that I would wear over and over because I could “hide” in it. That was me. It was exhausting!
When I rejoined Eze Fitness in April 2016, I was the heaviest I had ever been. My husband and I had just got back from a fabulously expensive trip to Mexico where I, sadly, was just a spectator. I was so embarrassed by my appearance. I specifically remember talking to a nice couple in the pool, and I had to wait until they left or turned away to climb out. Not to mention the seat belt on the plane was at its maximum length. Enough was enough! I had to go back to Eze Fitness, and I did. The hardest thing was walking through that door, but it was all in MY head. I had to get out of my own head! When I walked in, I remember Jemand gave me the biggest hug all while flashing that beautiful smile of his. I was back, and I just knew it was going to be OK.
I entered his 6 Week Sizzling Summer Slimdown Challenge and quickly lost 20 pounds by Memorial Day. The overall weight I wanted to lose was 80 pounds. That number was just too overwhelming for me, so I set mini goals for myself. I then decided to lose another 20lbs by Labor Day. I did that. My husband had a huge birthday party early October. My goal was to lose 50 pounds. I did that. Now, I am on my way to another 10 pounds by Christmas. I will do that, plus 20 more pounds by my one year anniversary back at Eze Fitness, in April of 2017. I have no doubt that by then, I would have lost my goal of 80 pounds.
The confidence you hear while reading that last statement is because of Jemand and my trainers at Eze Fitness. They motivate and encourage you every step of the way. It means so much to me to have the trainers in my corner. But it’s not just the trainers, it is the whole vibe of Eze Fitness. Everyone there builds you up! As corny as it sounds, it’s like a family that look out for each other. People I do not really know come up to me to compliment me on my weight loss journey. I smile from inside out!
The expression “slow and steady wins the race” applies to me at Eze Fitness! I don’t lift the heaviest. I can’t do box jumps to save my own life, and unless bandanas make a huge comeback, I’m not known for my swag! Because of my auto-immune conditions, I have to make modifications, and there are times my body tells me I have done too much, so I step back. No judgement. But guess what, I still go and leave there spent.
Let me tell you, you will NEVER get a sweat like you get at Eze Fitness! I don’t think I’ve done the same exercise routine twice! Where does Jemand come up with this stuff? Boring is never an adjective you will use to describe this gym!
Obviously, the other piece to the puzzle to losing weight is eating right. It’s not rocket science. I know how to eat well. I just need motivation, which I get in bucket loads at Eze Fitness! I’m not going to do all that work in the gym, just to put it back on. Plus, I’m a huge planner. I know what I am having for dinner next Tuesday! I watch my carbs and sugar. I eat poultry and fish, as well as fruits and veggies. I do indulge in my favorite foods and drink, but just in moderation and on special occasions.
Physically, I feel better. I am wearing clothes that fit better, and I’m not hiding behind them. A couple weeks ago, I went to the mall with my friend, Charlene, to shop for a dress to wear to a wedding. I actually had fun trying them all on, sharing with a friend and deciding which one was best! Girl stuff! Also, I just went to my rheumatologist last week. Obviously, she was happy with my weight loss and explained how important it is for my joints. Yes, I have flare ups, but I know that with every pound I lose, it will be better for my health.
Mentally, I’m me again! I actually had someone tell me at the gym last week that I look happier. I am. It feels satisfying to have a solid plan and see light at the end of a tunnel. I have a purpose again. A goal. In fact, guess what? I’m going back to the same resort in Mexico this April. I get to have a do-over!! I expect it to be completely different. Keep you posted.
I can go on and on, but to sum it all up, Jemand and his team at Eze Fitness changes lives. I’m living proof of that.
